While designing a client’s home, Igloodgn took on the challenge to design custom furniture. The team quickly set out to design with a single function in mind – however realized thought the design process, that it could be adapted into a number of different uses.
To design a custom piece that incorporates modern materials and technology, along with historical furniture making techniques. For this project a high skill craftsman would be required to manufacture of the piece.
Inspiration came directly from Art Deco and the opulence of its time. Many techniques were combined to create this custom bar cabinet, from high gloss lacquer to exotic wood veneers and beautiful brass inlays. We commissioned a sculptor for the bronze handles and a furniture maker to sort out the veneers, maximize the beauty of the wood, and line the drawers in leather.
Our hands on approach to this project helped us understand and appreciate the value of craftsmanship, more so than we already did. More importantly, the client loves it.
